Are you looking for a super simple way to decorate some cookies for Valentine’s Day? If so, you have come to the right place. In this Valentine’s Day Cookie Decoration How-To I’m going to take you through the steps of making hearts on cookies. This decorating technique is great for decorating cookies to take to kids parties, Valentine’s Day parties, or just to give to your sweetheart. First, you need to bake and cool your sugar cookies, I did round and heart shaped cookies. You also need to whip up a batch of royal icing, be sure to make several colors.
So, start by frosting your cookies with your royal icing base color.
Next, pipe on some dots, while the base icing is still wet.
Immediately, drag a toothpick through the dots from just above the dot past the bottom of the dot, this makes a heart shape!
So if you, pipe a line of dots and drag the toothpick from above the first dot to below the last dot you get a little line of hearts.
You can also pipe dots all around the outside of a cookie then drag your toothpick through and you get a ring of hearts.
Or you can pipe a spiral of dots.
Then when you drag your toothpick through you get a spiral of hearts!
You can experiment with all different colors and patterns. It’s quite a lot of fun. Happy Decorating!
