Trail Mix Crispy Treats

Here is a “healthy” snack for you, Trail Mix Crispy Treats! Why are they healthy you ask? Well, because they have trail mix mixed into them, trail mix equals nuts which equal protein! We all know protein is good for us, it’s one of the building blocks of life so a bit of added protein makes the crispy treats healthy! Since they are healthy, you can still eat them even though you might have made a New Years resolution to be healthier. So, before we think about it too much, let’s just make them.

We start by greasing a jelly roll pan with cooking spray.

Next melt butter in a large dutch oven. Don’t look at me like that, we all know butter is better for you than margarine, it’s more natural!

After the butter is melted stir in the marshmallows until they are all melted. Just look at the marshmallow package, they’re fat-free, obviously healthy, right? Mmmm… Just look at the melty goodness!!!

Once the marshmallows are melted remove the pan from the heat and stir in the crisp rice cereal. Crisp rice cereal is good for you too, I mean it’s almost like eating nothing.

Lastly, stir in your trail mix. I just used a traditional kind of trail mix with raisins, M&M’s, peanuts, almonds, and cashews, but you can use whatever kind of trail mix you would like. See all the protein packed nuts?

Press the crispys into the greased jelly roll pan as evenly as possible. Allow the crispys to cool slightly and then you can cut them into pieces.
