What’s up?

So, you’ve been to the gym you had a great workout, but you’re hot and all sweaty. You find yourself thinking “if only there was a high protein ice cream, I would love to eat it right now!” Well, you’ve come to the right post. Thie ice cream is made with whey protein powder, skim milk, and egg whites. Plenty of protein and some sugar to replenish you after your workout. If you want an extra protein bonus you can also make the protein hot fudge recipe below! By the way, the first time I made this it made way too much for my ice cream maker to handle so I halved the recipe to fit. You could also just do it in two batches in your ice cream maker.

First, you’re going to need a double boiler. If you don’t have one no problem just use a saucepan with a metal bowl on top. In your double boiler, you are going to put the egg whites and sugar.

Whisk the sugar and egg whites together until the sugar is dissolved.

The best way to test this is to squish it between your fingers a bit. If it feels grainy the sugar is not dissolved. Once the sugar is dissolved this means that the egg whites are “cooked” and safe to eat. They don’t look cooked, but they are.

Place the egg whites in the bowl of an electric mixer and whip on high until stiff peaks form.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl whisk together the skim milk, honey, vanilla, and protein powder (whatever flavor you desire). I did chocolate and vanilla.

Once the egg whites are whipped, whisk them into the large bowl with the protein mixture. Make use that they are very well combined. Refrigerate until fully cooled.

Look how smooth and fluffy it is!

Freeze in your ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s directions. Freeze until ready to serve.

Meanwhile, you can make the protein hot fudge! In a saucepan combine sugar, protein powder, cocoa powder, and milk.

Bring to a boil stirring often until thickened.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in butter and vanilla, until the butter is melted. Serve over ice cream!

Treating yourself to high protein ice cream with protein hot fudge after a workout will feel and taste like an indulgence, but with all the protein it will give you great results too! If you want to, you can also use the protein hot fudge as a ripple in your ice cream instead of a topping.
